Clive is a former Marketing Director of national mental health charity MIND, and has also been a local authority Communications Director and an Executive Director of Arts Council England.
Career highlight: Clive’s award-winning engagement and marketing programmes have enabled complex service transformation, reshaped organisational cultures, and laid the foundations for new institutions to be created through merger or acquisition.

Background: Leading and managing communications, marketing and PR teams in local government, education, criminal justice and the NHS. Trained as a radio journalist, ran a small PR consultancy specialising in housing and voluntary sector. Freelance journalist, PRO.
Career highlight: Successfully and single-handed, managing over 20 national and regional media – including live interviews with the Home Secretary (after a prison riot broke out), at the first national conference on the future of multi-ethnic Britain, after being brought on board with 48 hours’ notice.
What drives me? I’m drawn towards the difficult, complex and complicated, believing strongly that it’s here we can find solutions.

Background: Previously Head of Social Research at BMRB (now TNS-BMRB), with 20 years’ experience in commercial research agencies, plus experience in local government, construction materials and with the Health Education Authority in the 1990s. Also active in the Community and Voluntary Sector.
Career highlight: Leading the teams conducting “world best” surveys to estimate the prevalence of child abuse and neglect, for the NSPCC in 1999, and again in 2009. They were very large studies, requiring exceptional planning and the development of unprecedented ethical protocols.
What drives me: I am a naturally curious person, and I love the challenge of designing research studies to meet the client’s objectives, then project managing the whole study through sampling, data collection, data analysis and delivery of findings.
