North West London acute mental health services public consultation

Verve Communications supported North West London NHS in transforming mental health services by leading public consultations, gathering community feedback, and enhancing crisis support—ensuring compassionate, accessible, community-based care for lasting impact.

Overview of the proposed transformation

To improve mental health care for residents of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, North West London NHS and the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust proposed a strategic shift toward enhanced, community-based support for individuals with serious mental health conditions. This transformation includes the permanent closure of outdated inpatient wards at Gordon Hospital and a significant expansion of local community and crisis services, enabling timely, quality care in less restrictive settings.

Prioritising community-based care

Community-based services prioritize a compassionate, patient-centered approach, aligning with national goals to deliver care outside of hospital environments, reduce institutionalization, and promote recovery. Key to this proposal is the enhancement of crisis support services, such as Mental Health Crisis Assessment Services, which deliver immediate, critical care, reducing the need for hospital admissions.
